This article addresses the ergonomic risks associated with the manual transport and lifting of loads in the mining sector, specifically in underground mining, where workers are exposed to various hazards that affect their health. These risks include improper posture, lifting heavy loads, and exposure to vibrations from tools, which can lead to musculoskeletal injuries and fatigue. In addition, the working environment in underground mining presents adverse conditions such as extreme temperatures and confined spaces that aggravate these risks. The article analyzes in detail the most common ergonomic risk factors in this sector, based on Executive Decree 255, which regulates working conditions in the country. Risks include poor posture, repetitive motions, and handling poorly designed tools. The impact of environmental conditions, such as equipment vibration and lack of adequate ventilation, which aggravate workers' health, is also considered.Several recommendations are offered to mitigate these risks, such as the implementation of continuous training programs in ergonomics, the design of tools and equipment that minimize physical effort, the promotion of active breaks and the rotation of tasks. In addition, constant monitoring of working conditions is suggested to prevent accidents and injuries. The implementation of these measures would contribute not only to improving the health of workers, but also to increasing productivity and safety in underground mining. The prevention of ergonomic risks in underground mining is essential to ensure a safer and healthier work environment, which is key to sustainability and worker well-being.
